Akinox Among the Big Players in the Healthcare Industry

Akinox was honored to participate in the Vaccine Credential Initiative (VCI) general membership meeting that took place last June and in the NASEM (The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medecine) meeting. Our President and Founder, Alexander Dahl, had the opportunity to present the solutions that Akinox has developed for the reading of vaccine passports, using QR codes, and for the analysis of infection statistics. Companies such as Microsoft, Oracle, UC San Diego Health, MITRE Corporation and several other large companies and collaborators shared their work around proof of vaccination.

VCI and Smart Health Card

VCI™ is a voluntary coalition of public and private organizations committed to providing individuals with access to a reliable and verifiable copy of their immunization record in digital or paper form using open and interoperable standards. Using the Smart Health Card, which helps users keep paper or digital versions of clinical information, such as immunization history, all participating companies were able to share their innovations on this topic and inspire each other for the ease and effectiveness of vaccine evidence.

In addition, VCI has four key design principles, which is a commitment to the users of this technology. These are:

  • Openness & Interoperability: based on international standards and open technologies and interoperable across countries and regions.
  • Transparency: operated in an open and transparent manner.
  • Privacy by Design: upholds and protects the privacy of individual health data and designed to comply with applicable data privacy regulations.
  • Flexible and Equitable: designed to adapt over time as the pandemic and science evolve. Accessible and usable by anyone worldwide in any language regardless of level of wealth and economic development, including availability in digital and paper (QR code) forms.

‘’We are really grateful for all the work that has gone in the VCI to establish strong principles that help communicate with decision makers and with the public.’’
Alexander Dahl, Akinox’s President and Founder.

NASEM

The NASEM (The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine) provide independent, objective advice to inform policy with evidence, spark progress and innovation, and confront challenging issues for the benefit of society. The work of the private, non-profit National Academies is grounded in the expertise of three academies — the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), National Academy of Engineering (NAE), and National Academy of Medicine (NAM). Most of this work is conducted through seven major program areas of the National Academies.

Our president was again invited to discuss about the technology used under the VaxiCode app developed by Akinox and how effective it is since the beginning of the pandemic.

Once again, all Akinox’s hard work and effort has been recognized and we are very honored to be able to share our expertise and knowledge with other leading companies for the advancement of healthcare technologies.
